Japa, Inc. ("JAPA," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting user privacy through stringent data management policies. This policy transparently outlines our data collection, use, sharing, security, and retention practices for our parking occupancy monitoring technology.
What our sensors see — and what they don't
JAPA sensors deliver a binary status only: "0" for available, "1" for occupied. We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII), license plate recognition (LPR) data, or any individual commuter data.
01Overview and purpose
Japa, Inc. ("JAPA," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting user privacy through stringent data management policies. This Privacy Policy transparently outlines our data collection, use, sharing, security, and retention practices, specifically for our parking occupancy monitoring technology.
02Scope and applicability
This policy applies exclusively to the non-personal occupancy data collected by our proprietary parking occupancy sensors, which deliver binary status indicators ("0" indicating available, "1" indicating occupied). JAPA explicitly does not collect personally identifiable information (PII), license plate recognition (LPR) data, or any individual commuter data.
03Data collection and processing
We limit our data collection to binary occupancy status of parking spaces. This occupancy data, devoid of personal identifiers, is collected purely for enhancing parking space management efficiency and operational planning.
04Use of collected data
JAPA utilizes occupancy data solely to:
- Provide real-time parking availability analytics.
- Support operational improvements and strategic decisions for our enterprise customers.
05Data sharing and disclosure
Occupancy data is shared exclusively with authorized representatives of our clients, strictly under contractual confidentiality provisions. JAPA will never sell, lease, or otherwise distribute occupancy data to third parties for marketing or unrelated commercial purposes.
06Data security measures
JAPA employs industry-leading security practices, including AWS-hosted cloud infrastructure, encrypted data transmission, rigorous access controls, and regular security audits to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
07Compliance with regulations
JAPA adheres fully to all applicable privacy and data protection laws, including, without limitation, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other evolving federal, state, and local privacy regulations.
08Data retention and deletion
We retain occupancy data only as long as necessary to fulfill contractual obligations or as required by law, typically for a maximum of 24 months unless otherwise explicitly agreed upon with the client.
09Updates and amendments
We review and update this Privacy Policy annually. Any substantive amendments will be proactively communicated to our clients.
